Haven't posted much here lately. Haven't really had much happen that I couldn't describe in 140 chars or less.

I don't think you could pay me enough to be a 911 dispatcher.

Had to go to the 911 center to fix some things tonite. While I was there, one call among many stood out. An < 10 yr old child called 911 to report their mother was attempting suicide in front of them and their even younger sibling. Bless their heart they answered all the dispatcher's questions and gave good information even up until the officer got onscene and the dispatcher instructed the child to put the phone down and go downstairs to let the officer in so he could help. I overheard another dispatcher ask the one who took the call, "You got all that in the notes from the kid?" -"Yeah." "Smart kid..." Needless to say, the dispatcher who took the call took a break afterwards. Can't say I blame them.

Sometimes we forget the kinds of things the people in our local public safety system have to handle in the interest of keeping the rest of us safe. I salute you all and am glad you do the jobs you do, cuz I sure couldn't.

I'm particularly partial to the pepperoni and mushroom ones. They have bbq beef, buffalo chicken, sausage, etc..... about 25 different ones.

Tonight is the last night that Southside Pizza & Pub will be doing ThePokerPub. They're working on getting a venue for the Tournament of Champions, but no word yet on a venue to continue playing on. Apparently not enough money in food/drink sales were happening to continue. Sad, really. Most of the diehard regulars were quite supportive, including myself.

Seems like all my bar poker leagues just fizzle away like that.

Kind of a shame, I really liked how this one was stuctured.

Oh well. That will just leave my online PL O8 league to concentrate on. I think I have a pretty decent shot there.
